Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Parks - A Week Of Tent Camping
Scouts from Troops 722 and 2722 recently spent an adventurous week exploring Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Parks. Their trip involved tent camping, sightseeing, hiking, and general exploration, with many scouts focusing on earning their Cooking and Camping merit badges. Death Valley, holding the record for the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet below sea level, offered a beautiful landscape. Meanwhile, the unique Desert climate of Joshua Tree National Park, characterised by hot, dry summers and cold winters, along with suitable elevations and well-drained soils, provides the perfect environment for Joshua trees to thrive, relying on the crucial yucca moth for pollination.
